Woke up this morning, felt like maybe catching a game or something. Just wondered, you know, what games are on in Cincinnati today? Sounded simple enough in my head.
So, I went over to the computer, thought I’d just do a quick search. Easy, right? Well, not really. It’s kinda scattered all over the place.
Trying to piece it together…
First thing, you think okay, maybe the Reds are playing? Gotta check their schedule specifically. Then, what about FC Cincinnati? That’s a whole different website or app you gotta look at. Then maybe the colleges, like UC or Xavier, might have something going on, but finding that info easily? That’s another hunt altogether.
- Pro teams have their own spots.
- College teams are somewhere else.
- Smaller stuff, who even knows?
It reminds me of that time I was trying to figure out all the different Oktoberfest Zinzinnati events last fall. Seemed like every brewery or neighborhood had its own little thing, and trying to get a single picture of everything happening that weekend was just impossible. You hear about one thing from a friend, see another on some random website. Same feeling trying to find games today.
Why can’t it just be listed somewhere simple? Seems like a basic thing someone would want to know. But nope. You end up bouncing between three, four, maybe five different places online. This site has the big league stuff, that one might mention college if you dig deep enough. Sometimes you stumble on some local league thing on social media, pure luck.
I even texted my buddy Dave, he usually keeps track of this stuff. His answer? “Man, I don’t know, gotta check the team sites I guess.” Even the guy who usually knows doesn’t have an easy answer.

So yeah, finding out about games in Cincinnati today isn’t like just looking at a menu. It takes a bit of clicking around, a bit of effort. They’re definitely happening, somewhere. But getting a straight, simple answer for everything? Good luck with that. You gotta do the legwork yourself, seems like.
