Okay, so today I decided to hit up Royal Ski Mountain. I’d heard some good things about it, and, well, I needed to get out of the house!
Getting There
First things first, I had to actually get there. I packed my gear the night before – skis, boots, poles, the whole nine yards. This morning, I loaded everything into the car, grabbed a coffee for the road, and started driving. The drive itself was pretty chill, about two hours, and the scenery was awesome as I got closer to the mountain.
Hitting the Slopes
Once I arrived, I got my lift ticket and headed straight for the lifts. I’m not gonna lie, the first run was a little shaky. It had been a while since I’d last skied. But after that, I started to get back into the groove.
- The snow was pretty good – not too icy, not too slushy. Just right, Goldilocks style!
- I stuck mostly to the blue (intermediate) runs, but I did try a black diamond (expert) once. Let’s just say I took it slow!
- I really enjoy how beautiful it is.
Lunch Break
Around lunchtime, my stomach started rumbling. I headed to the lodge and grabbed a burger and fries. Pretty standard ski lodge fare, but it hit the spot. It was nice to just sit down, rest my legs, and people-watch for a bit.
Afternoon Adventures
After lunch, I went back out for a few more runs. The afternoon light was beautiful on the mountain, all golden and glowy. I managed to get in a few more solid runs before my legs started to feel like jelly.
Heading Home
Finally, around 4 PM, I decided to call it a day. I was tired, but in a good way. I packed up my gear, changed back into my regular clothes, and started the drive home.

All in all, it was a great day at Royal Ski Mountain. Definitely worth the trip! I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a fun day on the slopes. Just remember to pace yourself, and maybe don’t try too many black diamonds if you’re a bit rusty like me!
