Alright, so lemme tell ya’ll about this little experiment I did with pregame songs. I was tasked with curating the ultimate playlist to get everyone hyped before a big event. Sounded easy, right? Wrong!

First, I started by scouring the internet. YouTube, Spotify, even asked some of my younger cousins what the kids are listening to these days. I made a massive list of like, a hundred songs – everything from classic rock anthems to the latest pop bangers.
Then, I went through and ruthlessly chopped it down. No slow jams allowed! We needed energy, pure unadulterated hype. I looked for songs with a strong beat, catchy hooks, and lyrics that people could shout along to. Think stuff like:
- “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen
- “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes
- “Yeah!” by Usher
You know, the classics.
Next up: the test drive. I invited a few friends over, told them I needed their honest opinions. I played them the playlist, watched their reactions, and took notes. Brutal honesty only! Some songs were instant hits, others were met with blank stares. Those got the axe.
I tweaked the playlist based on their feedback. Rearranged the order, swapped out some songs, added a few more that I thought would fit the vibe. This was all about building momentum, starting with something good and then steadily increasing the energy until we hit peak hype levels.

Finally, I tested it out for real at the actual pregame. And you know what? It worked like a charm! People were dancing, singing, and just generally getting pumped up. It really set the tone for a great night. So yeah, that’s how I created my ultimate pregame playlist. It’s all about knowing your audience, finding the right energy, and not being afraid to experiment.
Oh, and always, always have “Bohemian Rhapsody” on standby. You never know when you’ll need a good old-fashioned singalong.
