Okay, here’s my blog post about figuring out who makes MLB helmets, written in a casual, personal style:

So, I got into this random rabbit hole the other day. I was watching a baseball game, and it just popped into my head: “Who the heck even makes these helmets?” I mean, they gotta be super strong, right? They’re protecting these guys from 100mph fastballs!
I started with a quick search. You know, the usual lazy way. Typed in “who makes mlb helmets”. I figured it’d be some big, obvious company.
Turns out, it’s pretty much all Rawlings. I mean, I’d heard of them, they make gloves and stuff, but I didn’t realize they were the main helmet supplier for Major League Baseball.
I dug a little deeper. I wanted to know, like, how they make these things. It’s gotta be some serious engineering.
I found it pretty hard to track all of their manufacturing process.

From what I could gather, after reading some of these helmet specifications. I think it all comes down to materials and how strong these helmets are made.
So yeah, that’s my little helmet adventure. Basically, if you see a batter step up to the plate, there’s a really good chance that’s a Rawlings helmet on their head. They’ve pretty much got that market cornered. Kind of cool, huh?
