Today, I wanted to mess around with something I’ve been seeing all over my social media feeds – those “hot” trending Pokémon. I’ve got zero experience with this kind of stuff, but hey, that’s never stopped me before!

First Steps: Figuring Out What’s What
First thing I did was just straight-up Googled “hot Pokémon.” I know, genius, right? I landed on all sorts of lists, and I got to see all this fan art and discussions. It was a little overwhelming, but I started to see some familiar faces popping up more than others.
Getting My Hands Dirty
I decided to try and understand the “why” behind these trends. So, I started to look at the comments. I see terms like “fanart,” “memes,” and the Pokémon’s abilities in the actual game. It looks like a mix of looks, usefulness, and just pure internet randomness plays a role.
- Fanart: I spent some time looking at fan-made drawings and…wow. People are talented. I can see how some of the cuter, more impressive designs would get popular.
- Memes: Of course, it’s the internet. Lots of jokes and funny images, I have no idea about the inside jokes, though.
- Game Stats: Okay, this is where I started to feel really out of my depth. I’m not a big Pokémon player. But it looks like some Pokémon are popular because they’re actually really strong or useful in battles.
Experimenting
I wanted to see these pokemons’ recent performance, so I searched for the specific Pokémon to check its popularity trends.
The results were pretty cool! I have learned that it’s a mix of how good the Pokémon are in the game, how much fan art they get, and just random internet trends.
My (Very) Amateur Takeaway
So, after my deep dive (which, let’s be honest, was more like a shallow paddle), I realized that “hot Pokémon” are a mix of things.

It’s all a big, fun, slightly confusing mix. And honestly, that’s part of the appeal! I still don’t get all of it, but hey, I learned something new. Maybe I’ll even try playing the actual game sometime… maybe.
