So, I was scrolling through TikTok today, posting my usual content, you know, just sharing bits of my life, my projects, my experiments. But then, I noticed something weird. My comments section was looking like a ghost town. I knew for sure that people were commenting, I even saw some notifications, but when I tapped to view them – poof! Nothing there.

At first, I thought, “Okay, maybe it’s just a hiccup.” So, I did what any of us would do, I closed the app, cleared the cache, restarted my phone, the whole nine yards. Still nothing.

Then, I started poking around in the app’s settings. I went into “Privacy” then “Comments”. Made sure my settings were allowing comments from “Everyone”. Checked if I had any specific keywords filtered out or if I had blocked any users that might be causing issues. Nope, everything seemed fine there. Checked my comment filters, they were all off. Even checked the users I’d blocked, just in case. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

  • First, I tried the basic stuff – restarting the app, clearing the cache, and restarting my phone.
  • Then, I double-checked my privacy settings to make sure comments were enabled and there were no weird filters or blocked users messing things up.

I even tried a few other things I found from some people sharing their own experiences. Some of them suggested logging out and logging back in, or even uninstalling and reinstalling the app. I gave those a shot too, but still no luck. My comments section remained a mystery.

Then it hit me. I had updated the app just a day or two before. Maybe it was a bug with the latest version? I went to the app store, checked the reviews, and bingo! Other people were reporting the same issue after the update.

The Solution

Finally, I found the culprit. It was a bug in the latest TikTok update.

So, after all that, it turned out to be a bug in the latest TikTok update. A bunch of other users were experiencing the same problem. It wasn’t something I did or some setting I messed up. It was just one of those things that happen sometimes with app updates.

At this point, it seems like we just have to wait for TikTok to roll out a fix. It’s a bit annoying, yeah, but what can you do? At least now I know I’m not alone and it’s not something I did wrong. Hopefully, they’ll push out an update soon, and we can all go back to enjoying our comment sections in all their glory.

I tried reaching out to TikTok support, but, as you can imagine, it’s like shouting into the void. So, for now, I guess we’re all in the same boat. I’ll keep checking for updates and if I find a workaround, I’ll definitely share it. If you run into the same problem, don’t panic! It is not your fault.

Just hang tight, and hopefully, TikTok will fix it soon. In the meantime, we can at least still enjoy the videos, right? And hey, maybe this is a good opportunity to practice our lip-syncing skills or perfect that new dance trend. Gotta find the silver lining, right?
