Hey everyone, so I had this little adventure the other day that I thought I’d share. It all started when I stumbled upon this crossword clue, “Sch. two hours south of U.C.L.A.” I was stumped for a bit, but then it hit me – it’s SDSU! That got me thinking, I should really go check this place out. I mean, I’ve been around UCLA a bunch, but never ventured down south to San Diego State University.

So, I hopped in my car and started driving. Let me tell you, getting out of LA is always an adventure in itself. But once I got past the usual traffic, it was a pretty smooth ride. I was jamming to some tunes, enjoying the scenery, and before I knew it, I was in San Diego.
Arriving at SDSU
Pulling up to SDSU, the first thing I noticed was how different it felt from UCLA. It’s got this relaxed, almost beachy vibe – which makes sense, being in San Diego. The campus is huge, with lots of greenery and some pretty cool-looking buildings. I grabbed a map from the visitor center because, honestly, I had no clue where I was going.
Exploring the Campus
I started wandering around, and man, this place is lively. Students were everywhere – studying, hanging out with friends, playing frisbee. I walked past the library, which is massive, by the way, and some of the classroom buildings. I even stumbled upon a group of students rehearsing some kind of performance. It was all very… collegiate, you know?
Finding the “Let There Be Light” Motto
I remembered reading somewhere that UCLA has this motto, “Let There Be Light,” and I was curious if SDSU had something similar. Turns out, they do! I found it near this big open area with a five-pointed star, symbolizing the spread of knowledge. It felt pretty inspiring, to be honest.
Checking Out the Majors
I know a lot of folks who are into stuff like economics, sociology, and political science. I heard those are some popular majors at UCLA, so I figured SDSU must have something similar. I went over to the department buildings and, sure enough, they offer all those and more. I even saw some students working on what looked like a pretty intense group project. I just don’t know what major they have. Maybe it’s about sociology.

Grabbing Some Food
After all that walking, I was starving. I found a little cafe on campus and grabbed a sandwich and a coffee. It was nice just sitting there, soaking in the atmosphere. I could totally see why students like it here. It’s a big school, but it still feels kind of cozy, if that makes sense.
Reflecting on the Visit
As I was driving back, I was thinking about how this little trip started with a simple crossword clue. It’s funny how one small thing can lead to a whole new experience. I realized that sometimes, it’s good to step out of your usual routine and explore something new. Visiting SDSU was a cool reminder that there’s a whole world out there beyond the bubble of UCLA and LA.
If you’re ever in the area, I’d definitely recommend checking out SDSU. It’s a vibrant campus with a lot to offer. And who knows, maybe you’ll even stumble upon your own little adventure along the way.
