Okay, so the other day, I needed to download a Loom video. I usually just watch them online, but this one I wanted to keep for later. I tried a few things, and let me tell you, some were a pain. But I finally figured out a super simple way to do it, no fancy software needed. Here’s what I did:

My First Try (and Fail)
First, I thought, “Maybe there’s a download button right there?” Nope. Loom lets you share videos easily, but downloading? Not so obvious. I poked around the video player, looked in the settings, nothing. So, I moved to step two which also failed me.
Slightly Better (But Still a No)
Next, I went to some online Loom video downloaders. I found by simply searching on Google. I pasted the video link, but I’m always a little nervous about those sites, you know? But, I got nothing, this way failed me, too!
The Easy Way I Finally Found (and You Can Use Too!)
Finally, I figured something out, it is pretty simple. Here it is:
- Open the Loom video in your browser. Any browser should work.
- Right-click anywhere on the page (not on the video itself, just on the blank space around it).
- Select “Inspect” or “Inspect Element” from the menu that pops up. This opens up the developer tools, but don’t worry, you don’t need to be a coder.
- Find a tab “Network”. Click it.
- Find a file end with ‘.mp4’.
- Right-click the link.
- Choose “Open in a new tab.” Your browser will open a new tab with just the video.
- Right-click on the video in the new tab.
- Pick “Save video as…” or something similar. Choose where you want to save it, and you’re done!
Seriously, that’s it! No extra software, no weird websites. Just your browser and a few clicks. I was so relieved when I figured this out. Hope this helps you, too!
