Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to make a special hat for a while now, and I finally decided to go for it. I’m a huge Raiders fan, and I thought, why not make a giant Raiders hat? Yeah, it sounded kinda crazy at first, but I was determined to do it.

First, I searched for some information about hats online. It says the ’47 on hats refers to 1947, the year that the ’47 Brand company was started. And ’47 is an official licensee of MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, and even NASCAR. Cool, right? I also found some Akubra hats, very reminiscent of the Temple of Doom hat, which is fabulous. Then I checked out online stores for Raiders hats, and they have everything from sideline hats to snapbacks. Even better, I discovered that you can earn 3% on eligible purchases of Las Vegas Raiders hats at Fanatics. There are so many exclusive, officially licensed Las Vegas Raiders gear, it’s awesome.

So, I started by gathering all the materials. I needed a lot of black and silver fabric, some sturdy cardboard for the base, and a whole bunch of stuffing to make it puffy and giant. I also got some silver paint and a big Raiders logo patch to put on the front. It was quite a shopping trip, let me tell you.

Next, I began working on the base of the hat. I cut out a huge circle from the cardboard and then shaped it into a cylinder. This was the trickiest part because I had to make sure it was big enough to fit the giant look I was going for but also not too heavy. After a few tries, I finally got it right.

Then, I covered the cardboard base with black fabric. I used a hot glue gun to secure it in place, making sure there were no wrinkles. This took forever, but I wanted it to look smooth and professional. Once the black fabric was on, I added the silver stripes on the sides, just like the real Raiders hats. I sewed these on to make them extra secure.

The next step was to make the top part of the hat. I cut out another large circle from the black fabric and stuffed it with a ton of filling. I sewed it shut and then attached it to the base. This was the fun part because the hat really started to take shape and look massive.

Finally, I painted the Raiders logo on a piece of silver fabric and glued it to the front of the hat. I also added some extra details, like a small ’47 logo on the side, to make it look authentic. And boom, the giant Raiders hat was done!

  • Searched for information and Raiders gear online.
  • Gathered materials: black and silver fabric, cardboard, stuffing, silver paint, Raiders logo patch.
  • Created the base: cut and shaped cardboard into a large cylinder.
  • Covered the base with black fabric using a hot glue gun.
  • Added silver stripes by sewing them onto the sides.
  • Made the top by stuffing a large circle of black fabric and attaching it to the base.
  • Painted the Raiders logo on silver fabric and glued it to the front.
  • Added a small ’47 logo for authenticity.

It took a lot of time and effort, but it was totally worth it. I wore it to a game, and everyone loved it. People were taking pictures with me and asking where I got it. It was a blast! I even saw some folks online who had bought similar hats, though I’m not sure if they got them in the mail. Anyway, this project was a huge success, and I’m so proud of my giant Raiders hat. If you’re a big fan like me, you should definitely try making one yourself!

I learned so much from this project, and it was a lot of fun to share my passion for the Raiders in such a unique way. I’m already thinking about my next big project. Maybe a giant football? Who knows! But for now, I’m just enjoying the reactions to my awesome hat.
