Okay, here’s my story about getting grass from King Ranch Turfgrass in Arlington:

So, the backyard was looking pretty sad. We’re talking dirt patches, weeds having a party, the whole nine yards. Decided it was time to get some real grass in there and make it look like, you know, an actual yard.
Started asking around, checking online, you name it. Heard a few folks mention this place, King Ranch Turfgrass, down in Arlington. They’re supposed to have all kinds of grass, and the prices seemed okay. Figured I’d give ’em a call.
Dialed the number I found online – it was something like 1-888-NEW-GRASS. A nice lady on the phone answered all my questions, helped me figure out what kind of grass would work best for my shady backyard. Turns out, they had zoysia just like they used at the gardens over at FW botanical gardens. Settled on something called Zorro zoysia, sounded tough enough to handle the shade and the kids.
Next, drove down to their place on South Cooper Street. It’s a big lot, with rows and rows of different grasses. Met this guy, Brian, working out in the yard. Super helpful dude. He showed me the Zorro zoysia, gave me some tips on how to plant it and keep it healthy. Felt like I was getting the inside scoop from a pro.
- Loaded up the car with the sod.
- Got it home.
- Laid it all out.
- Watered the heck out of it.
The Results
And you know what? That Zorro zoysia is the real deal. It’s filling in nicely, even in the shady spots. The backyard actually looks like a place where you’d want to hang out now. Happy with the grass, happy with the service at King Ranch. If you’re looking to green up your yard, these are your people.
