Okay, let’s talk about Zenyatta and her foals. Man, Zenyatta, what a horse! A legend, a queen. I remember watching her races, she was something else. And now, she’s a mom. I’ve been following the news about her babies, you know, just keeping tabs on the offspring of a legend.

So, she’s had a few foals, and it’s been a bit of a mixed bag, honestly. Her first two, Cozmic One and Ziconic, yeah, they raced, but they didn’t exactly set the world on fire. They were trained by Shirreffs, a good trainer, no doubt, but these two just didn’t have their mom’s magic. It happens, you know? Genetics are a tricky thing. Not every foal from a champion is going to be a champion.
Then, I heard some sad news. Apparently, a couple of her other foals had to be, well, put down. It’s tough, you know, to hear about that. Breeding horses is a tough business, and sometimes things just don’t go your way. It’s heartbreaking, really.
But Zenyatta, she’s a fighter. She had a filly named Zilkha in 2020, a pretty chestnut by Candy Ride. I remember seeing a picture of her, and she was adorable. Then, they tried to breed Zenyatta to Candy Ride again, but sadly, she lost that foal. Another tough break.
Now, here’s the latest. Last June, Zenyatta had another filly, this time by War Front. I saw a video of her, and folks, let me tell you, this one looks promising. She’s got that Zenyatta look, you know? They’re calling her Nymue, which is a cool name. Ren Carothers, you know, the racing commentator, she even said, “Maybe she saved her best for last.”
The Foals
- Cozmic One (2012, Bernardini): Raced, but didn’t win.
- Ziconic (2013, Tapit): Same story, raced but no wins.
- Zilkha (2020, Candy Ride): A beautiful chestnut filly.
- Nymue (2023, War Front): The latest one, and she’s got people excited.
I’m really rooting for Nymue. It would be amazing to see Zenyatta’s legacy continue through her. I’ll be keeping a close eye on her, that’s for sure. It’s just such a cool story to follow, you know? The ups and downs of it all, the hope, the heartbreak. It’s like a soap opera, but with horses!
