Okay, so I’ve been getting really into Star Wars Battlefront 2 lately, and a bunch of my friends are playing it too. The problem? They’re all on different systems! Some are on PlayStation, some on Xbox, and I’m stuck here on my PC. Naturally, the big question popped into my head: “Is Battlefront 2 cross-platform?” I needed to find out if we could all play together, regardless of our chosen hardware.

So, I started digging. My first stop was, of course, Google. I typed in something like “Battlefront 2 cross platform support” and started sifting through the results. I found some forum posts, some articles, a lot of chitchat, really.
I read through a bunch of these, and to be honest, it got a little confusing at first. Some people were saying “yes, it is!”, others were saying “no, it’s not!”. I even saw some folks talking about “cross-generation” play, which added another layer to my confusion. That’s when I knew I needed a simple, straightforward answer.
Digging Deeper
I decided to ignore all the forum posts after a while. I needed something more official. So, I tried to find information that came straight from the source, either Electronic Arts (the publisher) or DICE (the developer). I also checked some reputable gaming news sites I trust.
After a bit more searching and reading, it started to become clear. Here’s what I found, in plain English:
- No full cross-platform support: You can’t play with friends on different platforms. A PC player can’t join a game with a PlayStation player, or an Xbox player. It’s a bummer, I know.
- Cross-generation play exists: This means that if you have a PlayStation 5, you can play with friends who have a PlayStation 4. Same deal with Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. It’s something, at least!
My Conclusion
So, to sum it up, my little investigation proved that sadly, Star Wars Battlefront 2 does not have full cross-platform support. This means my dreams of epic battles with all my friends, regardless of their console or PC, are, well, just dreams for now. I am still happy for cross-generation support, because, you know, it is better than total isolation. At least, I can play together with my console buddies who have different versions.

I really wish it was different, though. It’s 2024, cross-play should be a standard feature in big games like this! Maybe someday they’ll add it, but for now, I’ll have to stick to playing with my fellow PC gamers.
