Okay, so I tried my hand at the New York Times Mini Crossword today, and the clue “wide display” had me scratching my head. I mean, what could it be, right?

I started by trying to recall any crossword puzzle tips. But my mind was kind of blank. I decided to just dive in and see where the puzzle would take me.
I filled in a few of the easier clues around it, hoping to get some letters to help me out. Nothing. Still stuck. I even considered looking it up in a dictionary. But I’m a “no-cheating” kind of guy when it comes to crosswords. So, I pushed through.
- Then I thought, what if I just Google it? That’s a way too.
- I started to read some articles about crossword puzzles, and the average time people spend on it.
- I found someone spent 14.3 days on it! Can you believe it?
But I persisted. I took a break, walked around a bit, and then it hit me. What if it’s something simple? Like a basic word.
And Then…
I thought about the word “array.” It kind of fits, right? A wide display of things. So, I typed it in, and bam! It worked! The answer to the “wide display” clue is ARRAY. The feeling of finally getting it was awesome.
Honestly, I felt pretty proud of myself for figuring it out. It’s these little victories that make these puzzles so much fun. After that, I finished up the rest of the crossword without any issues. It was a good day for a crossword lover like me.
