Alright, so I decided to spend some real time with the Apex Iron 7 today. My old 7-iron just wasn’t feeling right lately, you know? Felt like hitting a brick sometimes. Heard some chatter about this Apex, figured I’d give it a proper go.

Dragged myself to the range this afternoon. Grabbed a large bucket – figured I’d need it. Found a decent spot, not too crowded. The weather was okay, a bit windy, but manageable. Pulled out the Apex 7. First thing I noticed, it looks pretty sleek. Felt balanced enough in the hands, maybe a tad lighter than my old one.

Hitting the First Few

So, I teed up the first ball. Took a practice swing. Felt smooth. Then stepped up and just went for it. Honestly? The first hit was kinda terrible. Shanked it a bit right. Not the club’s fault, probably just me being rusty or overthinking it. Hit a few more like that. Topped one, chunked another. Started getting a bit frustrated, thinking maybe this club wasn’t for me either.

But then, I took a breather. Watched someone else hitting smoothly a few bays down. Decided to slow my swing way down. Focused on just making clean contact, not killing the ball. And wouldn’t you know it?

Getting the Feel

The next swing connected properly. The feeling was… different. Really solid, but also kinda soft off the face? Hard to explain. The ball just launched. High, straight. Wow. Okay, maybe there’s something here.

I spent the next half bucket really focusing on that tempo. Not every shot was perfect, far from it. But the good shots felt really good. Way more consistent than my old iron. Even the mishits weren’t too disastrous. They didn’t fly perfectly, sure, but they still got out there, mostly straight. Seemed more forgiving, I guess.

  • Tried aiming for the 150-yard marker.
  • Focused on hitting down on the ball.
  • Played around with ball position a little.

Found a sweet spot in my stance. When I got it right, the ball just flew off the face. It was actually fun hitting this club once I stopped trying to force it.

Finished the whole bucket. Hands were a bit sore, but I felt pretty good about the session. The Apex Iron 7… yeah, I think it’s gonna stay in the bag. Still needs work, obviously – my swing needs work – but the club itself feels promising. It connects well when I do my part. Definitely felt better walking off the range than walking on.
