Okay, let’s talk about how I got into watching the Genesis Scottish Open.

So, I’ve been trying to get into golf lately. Not playing, mind you – just watching. It seems like a chill sport to follow, and a good excuse to relax on weekends. This year, I heard about the Genesis Scottish Open and figured, why not? It’s a big deal, right?
First off, I had to figure out where to even watch this thing. I’m not exactly a sports channel expert. A quick search told me that Sky Sports was the place to go. Apparently, they have live coverage throughout the week. That sounded promising, but I also found out that you need a subscription. I mean, it’s just 22 pounds per month, but I wasn’t sure if I was that committed yet. Thankfully, they have this Sky Go app, which lets you stream on your phone or tablet. I guess that’s part of the subscription, so that’s convenient if I’m not near a TV.
- I started with Sky Sports because I saw they had live coverage.
- Then I looked into the Sky Go app to stream it on my phone.
- I found out I could also watch it on ESPN+ via the ESPN streaming hub, which is also good for those who do not have Sky Sports.
How I Watched It
I also came across some info about Peacock and ESPN+. It mentioned these platforms as options to stream the Scottish Open. I didn’t really check these out since Sky Sports seemed to have it all covered. But it’s good to know there are alternatives. Maybe I’ll explore those for other tournaments.
Anyway, I finally decided to give Sky Sports a shot. I mean, I could use the app and watch it from anywhere, so why not? I got my subscription set up and I was good to go. No turning back. The tournament runs from Thursday to Sunday, so I had plenty of time to watch. Once I had the app, it was pretty straightforward. Just find the right channel, and there it was – golf galore.
Honestly, it wasn’t too bad. The commentary was decent, and the picture quality was great. I even started to get into the game a bit. It’s kind of mesmerizing watching those guys hit the ball so far. Plus, the Scottish scenery was a nice bonus. Felt like I was taking a mini-vacation from my couch.

All in all, it was a pretty smooth experience. Now I feel like I’m somewhat in the know about golf. At least, I can say I watched the Genesis Scottish Open. Maybe next year I’ll check out other platforms like Peacock or ESPN+. But for now, I’m good with my Sky Sports setup. It did the job just fine.
