Where to Find Dooms Log? A Quick Guide for Beginners!

Okay, so, I was trying to find these Doom logs the other day, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a wild goose chase. Started off thinking it would be a piece of cake, you know? Just jump in, grab the logs, and done. Boy, was I wrong.

First thing I did was fire up the game and poked around the main menu for a bit. I figured there’d be some obvious “logs” section or something. Nope. Nothing. So then I thought, “Okay, maybe it’s in the game itself.” So I loaded up a level and started exploring.

I wandered around, shot some baddies, and kept my eyes peeled for anything that looked like a collectible or some kind of data terminal. I remembered reading somewhere online that these logs were tied to the map locations, so I made sure I checked the map too. There was this one place, Rebel’s Roost, that someone mentioned, so I headed east, ’cause that’s where I saw it on the map. Found a weird memorial statue there, and guess what? There was a recording! Finally, I thought I was getting somewhere. Listened to it, got some lore, felt pretty good.

Then there was another place called the Fractured Four, which was supposed to be southwest of some place called Doomstadt. I spent a good chunk of time just trying to find Doomstadt on the map. But eventually, after a bit more wandering, and let’s be real, shooting more enemies, I found it, and then from there I tracked down the Fractured Four. Found another recording there. Nice! Two down, who knows how many more to go.

Then someone suggested checking the “Dossier.” I was like, “What the heck is a Dossier?” Turns out, it’s that section in the menu where you can see all the info on the monsters and areas you’ve encountered. I clicked through all of them. It showed the ones I already had and marked the ones that were still missing. Okay, now we’re talking. This was actually helpful. It gave me a better idea of where to look.

  • Open Dossier
  • Go to monster/area info
  • Check missing data logs

I also messed around with Doom Emacs for a bit. This is totally unrelated to finding the logs, but I saw some people talking about it online and I got curious. I used to be a Vim guy, so the whole “evil mode” thing sounded cool. Doom Emacs, from what I gather, is like a souped-up version of Emacs that makes it easier to use Vim commands. It was not hard to get started with it, and there was a lot of resources online that made it easier to find my way around and learn. I found a series called “Doom Casts”, and it was pretty helpful. I probably should get into that a bit more. Maybe I will.

Anyways, back to the logs. There were a few more I needed to find, and thankfully, with the Dossier, it became a lot less of a guessing game. I just had to go to the areas I hadn’t fully explored yet, check around for those recording devices, and bam, got ’em all.

So yeah, that’s my story of hunting down those Doom logs. It was definitely more involved than I initially thought, but hey, I got there in the end. A little exploration, a little help from the internet, and a whole lot of blasting demons later, and mission accomplished.
