So, I’ve been messing around with Marvel Rivals lately. Pretty fun, you know, zipping around as different heroes. After a bit, I thought, why not try this ranked thing everyone talks about?

First hurdle, turns out you can’t just jump in. Had to get my account level up. They said level 15. Okay, fine. So I just played a bunch of regular matches. Took a little while, just grinding it out, learning the ropes with a few characters. Felt like a bit of a chore just to unlock the mode, honestly.
Finally hit level 15. Right, let’s do this. Queued up for my first ranked match. Bit nervous, not gonna lie. The first few games were… well, they were something. People seemed to take it way more seriously, which makes sense I guess. Got placed somewhere after a few matches, don’t quite remember where, probably low.
Then the real grind started. Trying to climb up. You win some, you lose some. Heard you could get some cool stuff for reaching certain ranks. Someone mentioned a shiny Emma Frost skin if you hit Gold rank. Okay, that sounded like a decent goal to aim for. Gives you something to shoot for, right?
Checking How Bad I Was Doing
Wanted to see my match history, figure out what went wrong in those losses. Took me a minute to find it. Had to go to my profile page, clicked my little icon up in the top right corner of the main screen. Found the career page there. It listed my recent matches. Useful to see the stats and stuff.
Kept playing, slowly moving up. It’s a bit of a rollercoaster. Some days you feel like a pro, other days you just can’t seem to win. Saw the different rank badges people had. Some looked pretty fancy.

- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold (that Emma skin target!)
- …and then it goes way higher.
Heard about the really top tiers, like Grandmaster and Eternity. Sounds intense. People up there must play this game non-stop. Also heard a weird thing about those top ranks – if you stop playing for a bit, your rank actually starts dropping automatically. Like, you lose points just for being inactive. Seems kinda harsh, punishing people for taking a break, but maybe it keeps the top spots competitive.
So, where am I now? Still plugging away when I have time. Haven’t hit Gold yet, but getting closer. It’s definitely a different vibe than casual matches. More pressure, sometimes more frustrating. But also more satisfying when you get that win streak going. It’s a grind, for sure. Worth it? Depends on the day, I guess. Sometimes yes, sometimes I just wanna go back to messing around in quick play. We’ll see how long I stick with the climb.
