Alright, so I was messing around with Palworld on my Xbox the other day, and it was bugging me that it wasn’t the latest version. You know how it is, gotta have the newest stuff, right? So, I started digging to figure out how to update it.

First thing I did, I checked the obvious stuff. Went to “My games & apps” on the Xbox dashboard. Navigated to Palworld, hit the menu button (that little button with the three lines), and selected “Manage game & add-ons.”
Inside there, I clicked on “Updates.” Usually, if there’s an update waiting, it’ll show up right there. But nope, nothing. Xbox was telling me I was already up-to-date. I was like, “Seriously?” ‘Cause I knew for a fact there was a new patch out.
Next, I figured maybe it was some kind of glitch with the automatic updates. So, I went back to “Manage game & add-ons” and this time, I went to “Installed.” Scrolled down to Palworld, and this time from the menu I chose “Uninstall.” Yup, I uninstalled the whole dang thing. A bit drastic, I know, but I was getting desperate.
After it was uninstalled, I went back to the Xbox Store, searched for Palworld, and re-downloaded it. This time, while it was downloading, I kept an eye on the download progress. I wanted to make sure it was pulling the latest version from the get-go. This took a while, obviously, because the game’s not exactly small.
Once it was finished, I launched the game. And guess what? Still the old version! I was starting to lose it at this point. I mean, what gives?

Then I remembered something I’d read online about Xbox Game Pass. Sometimes, games on Game Pass can be a little slow to get updates compared to the standalone versions. I don’t know why, but it seems to be a thing.
So, I decided to try something a little different. I went into my Xbox settings (the gear icon on the dashboard), then “System,” then “Updates.” I clicked “Update console.” Just in case there was a system update holding things up. It found one, downloaded it, and restarted the console.
After the restart, I went back to Palworld. And finally… FINALLY! It prompted me to download an update when I launched the game. Score!
So, the takeaway?
- Always check for console updates. Seems obvious, but sometimes you overlook it.
- Reinstalling the game can help, but it might not always be the solution.
- Be patient! Game Pass updates can sometimes lag behind.
It was a bit of a hassle, but I finally got Palworld updated on my Xbox. Now I can get back to catching Pals and building my base with all the new features. Hope this helps someone else out there!
