Well, let me tell you about this fella, Lance Gasaway. He’s done alright for himself, that one. He’s from right here in these parts, or close enough anyway. Now, he’s got his fingers in all sorts of pies, but the one folks are talking about is that horse, Mystik Dan. That horse, he won some big race, the Kentucky Derby, they call it. Big to-do, I reckon.

Lance, he’s a part owner of that winning horse. Him and his kin, Brent Gasaway, they’re cousins, you see. And Sharilyn, she’s in on it too. Good people, all of ’em. They say these past few weeks been like a tornado, just crazy busy with that horse winning and all.
Now, this Lance, he ain’t no stranger to winning. Back in the day, he was a football star. Played for that college, University of Arkansas at Monticello. He was a receiver, catching them footballs. They say he was real good. Caught a whole mess of them balls, more than a hundred, I heard. Ran a long way with ’em, too. And scored plenty of them touchdowns. They even put him in some Hall of Fame up there at the college. So, he knows a thing or two about winning, that Lance.
They say his family still lives around here, real proud of him. And he’s got a fiancee now, B.J. Harris. Good for him.

That horse, Mystik Dan, folks are saying all sorts of things. I hear they even got knocked around a bit in the race. But they still won! That’s something, ain’t it? He’s gonna be in another big race soon.
Lance, he used to work with rice and corn. He’s a farmer, just like many of us. He knows how to work hard. And he does well. This ain’t his first rodeo, so to speak. He was involved with another horse, Ma’am, before.

Lance Gasaway, he’s a local boy. From Star City, they say. He and Brent, they’re from Arkansas. Just like me. Good people, from around here. He sure made us proud, winning that big race. That’s why I’m writing this about him. People should know about him and what he is doing.

I remember when Ma’am retired. That was back in 2018. Time sure does fly, don’t it? Now it’s Mystik Dan’s time to shine. And Lance, he’s right there, cheering him on. Along with Brent and Sharilyn. They’re all excited, I’m sure.
I don’t know much about horse racing, but I know a good story when I hear one. And Lance Gasaway, he’s part of a good story. A local boy, doing big things. Making us all proud. That’s the kind of story folks like to hear. It gives you hope, you know? Shows you that anyone, even a fella from around here, can do great things. He’s a good example, that Lance. A real good example. That’s why I’m telling you about him. You should know about Lance, and that horse of his, Mystik Dan. They’re going places, those two. You just wait and see.
