Alright, so I kept seeing this ‘brother tiktok trend’ popping up everywhere. You know the ones, usually something funny or maybe a bit heartwarming involving brothers. Looked easy enough, honestly.

Thought I’d give it a whirl myself. Got a brother, got a phone, seemed like a straightforward thing to try out on a quiet afternoon. Didn’t have anything better to do, figured why not document a bit of real life, right?

Getting Started

First thing was figuring out which trend. There’s loads. I didn’t want anything too complicated, none of that fancy editing or dancing. Just not my style. Settled on one of those simple ‘ask a random question and film the reaction’ type things. Seemed harmless.

The Setup: This was trickier than I thought. Needed to get the phone recording without him noticing immediately.

  • Tried propping it on a shelf. Too obvious.
  • Tried hiding it behind a plant. Angle was all wrong.
  • Ended up just kind of holding it casually by my side, pretending to be looking at something else. Felt a bit daft doing it.

The Actual Attempt

So, I waited till he was just chilling, watching some game on TV. Perfect time, distracted. Walked in, tried to act normal.

Popped the question I’d picked out. Something deliberately silly, can’t even remember what exactly now, just meant to get a confused look.

And… well, I got one. He just slowly turned his head, stopped chewing his snack, and gave me this long, blank stare. Didn’t say anything for like, ten solid seconds. Then he just went, “You alright?” and turned back to the TV. That was it.

What Happened Next

Checked the recording later. It was mostly footage of my hand, the side of his head, and then that glorious ten seconds of awkward silence followed by him questioning my sanity. Not exactly viral material, let’s be honest.

End result? Deleted the video. Didn’t see the point in keeping it, let alone sharing it. It wasn’t funny, wasn’t interesting, just… awkward.

It did make me think though. These trends come and go so fast. You see something, you try it, and half the time it just falls flat. It’s weird trying to capture these little moments for… what? Likes? Views? Feels a bit forced sometimes, not like how things used to be. We’d just hang out, do stupid stuff without needing to film it for strangers. Suppose it’s just a different world now. Anyway, that was my go at the brother trend. Probably won’t be trying another one soon.
