Okay, so I’ve been getting back into the Pokemon TCG lately, and specifically, I’ve been obsessed with building a deck around Misty. Yeah, the gym leader from Cerulean City! I always thought she was cool, and her water-type focus is pretty strong in the game.

So, first thing I did was just dump all my cards out on the table. I’ve got a pretty decent collection, mostly older stuff from when I was a kid, plus some newer packs I’ve picked up. I needed to find all my Misty-related cards and any good water Pokemon.
I started digging through the piles, and it was like an archaeological dig! I found my old Misty’s Tears card, a couple of Misty’s Seadra, and even a Misty’s Gyarados! Score! I also pulled out all my water Pokemon – Blastoise, Starmie, Golduck, the works. I even found a few decent trainer cards that could help with a water deck.
Next, I laid out all the potential cards and started trying to figure out a strategy. I knew I wanted to focus on Misty’s ability to search for water energy, and I wanted to use Pokemon that could hit hard and fast. Gyarados is a beast, so he was definitely in. Starmie seemed good for quick damage, too.
I spent a good hour just moving cards around, trying different combinations. I kept thinking about how the cards would work together in a game. Like, could I get enough energy out fast enough to power up Gyarados? Did I have enough ways to get Pokemon out of my deck and onto the field?
After a lot of trial and error, I finally settled on a decklist. It’s not perfect, but it felt pretty solid. Here’s what I mostly have in mind.

- Lots of Water Energy (obviously!)
- Misty’s Determination – great for getting those energies.
- Misty’s Seadra- because it fit the theme.
- A few Staryu and Starmie for some early-game pressure.
- Gyarados – my main heavy hitter.
- Blastoise and some other basic water pokemon.
I played a few test games against myself (yeah, I know, a bit lonely, haha) just to see how it flowed. It actually worked pretty well! I was able to get Gyarados out pretty consistently and start doing some serious damage. The Starmie were good for chipping away at the opponent’s Pokemon, too.
I’m still tweaking it, of course. I think I need a few more trainer cards to help me draw cards and search for the Pokemon I need. But overall, I’m pretty happy with how my Misty deck is shaping up! It’s been a fun project, and it’s got me totally hooked on the Pokemon TCG again.
