Okay, so, I’ve been digging into something that’s always kinda fascinated me – the salaries of college football coaches, specifically at the University of Michigan. I mean, these guys make some serious bank, right? It’s wild!

Starting the Search
First things first, I jumped onto the internet, as one does. I started with a broad search, just to get a feel for the landscape. I discovered that back in December, a report came out detailing the salaries of all university employees. Guess what? Seven of the eight highest-paid folks in the athletic department are football coaches. No surprises there, honestly.
Diving Deeper
Then I narrowed my focus to Michigan’s team. Turns out, they’re pretty high up there when it comes to paying their assistant coaches. Like, fifth in the whole country and second in the Big Ten. That’s a lot of dough!
Finding Specific Names and Numbers
This is where it got really interesting. I started finding actual names and their corresponding salaries. For example, I found out that the defensive coordinator, Jesse Minter, was making $900,000. And Steve Clinkscale, the defensive backs coach, was pulling in $850,000. Sherrone Moore, one of the co-offensive coordinators, was also at $900,000. That’s some serious cash!
Expanding the Search
I wasn’t gonna stop there. I managed to find the salaries for the rest of the on-field assistants. We’re talking about Tony Alford, the running backs coach, making $885,000. LaMar Morgan, another defensive backs coach, at $858,000. And Ron Bellamy, handling the wide receivers, earning $600,000. These are just the assistants, mind you! The numbers are just staggering. I couldn’t believe it!
Exploring Head Coach Family Background
Then, out of curiosity, I looked up a bit about Jim Harbaugh, the former head coach, and his family. I learned that he has four kids, and two of his sons are named after his dad and brother, who are also big-time football coaches. It’s like a football dynasty!

Wrapping Up
So yeah, that’s basically my little research adventure into the world of Michigan football coaches’ salaries. It’s a fascinating world, full of big names and even bigger paychecks. It’s always interesting to see how much these folks make, especially considering how much money college football generates. What surprised me the most was that this is just one school and just the 10 on-field assistants. Anyway, I just thought I’d share my findings with you all. Hope you found it as interesting as I did!
