Alright, so let’s talk about Tottenham’s 2015-2016 season. This was a pretty wild ride, and I remember it like it was yesterday.

It all started with a lot of hope. We had a young squad, a fresh-faced manager in Mauricio Pochettino, and we were all buzzing after a decent finish the previous year. I remember thinking, “This could be our year!”
Summer Transfers
- Kept most of the squad from the previous season, which I thought was pretty smart. No need to fix what wasn’t broken.
- Bought in a few new faces, like Toby Alderweireld, who turned out to be an absolute rock at the back.
- Sold a couple of guys, like Roberto Soldado, who, let’s be honest, didn’t really set the world alight at White Hart Lane.
The season kicked off, and we were a bit shaky at first. I mean, we drew a few games we should have won, and I was starting to get a bit nervous.
Mid-Season Surge
But then, something clicked. We went on this amazing run, beating teams left and right. Harry Kane was banging in goals like there was no tomorrow, Dele Alli was this young dynamo in midfield, and the whole team was just playing out of their skins.
I was at a few of those games, and the atmosphere was electric. We were all starting to believe that we could actually challenge for the title. It was such an exciting time to be a Spurs fan!
The Title Race
- Were right up there with Leicester City, who were having their own fairytale season.
- Played some fantastic football, really showing what Pochettino’s philosophy was all about.
- Every game felt like a cup final. My heart was in my mouth every weekend!
Then came the infamous “Battle of the Bridge”. We were 2-0 up against Chelsea, and I thought, “This is it! We’re going to do it!” But then, it all fell apart. Chelsea came back, and we ended up drawing 2-2. That result handed the title to Leicester.

I was gutted, absolutely gutted. So close, yet so far.
After that, the team kind of lost its way a bit. We ended up finishing third, behind Arsenal, which was a bitter pill to swallow. I recall feeling frustrated that we couldn’t see it through until the end. It was a golden opportunity missed.
End of Season Thoughts
- Felt like a massive missed opportunity.
- Showed that we had the potential to be a top team.
- Left me with a sense of “what if?”.
But hey, that’s football, right? It was a season full of highs and lows, and it definitely left a mark on me. It was the season that made me believe we could compete at the very top, even though it ended in heartbreak.
I still think back to that season a lot. And I still hold that it made us who we are today, you know? It taught us a lot of lessons. This was a season that was hard to forget.
