Okay, so I’ve been getting into fishing lately, and I kept hearing about Abu Garcia reels. Everyone raves about them, so I decided to pick one up. But then I got curious – where are these things actually made?

First, I grabbed the reel box and flipped it over. Sometimes you get lucky, and it’s printed right there. No such luck this time. Just a bunch of marketing stuff and a barcode.
Next, I inspected the reel itself. I looked closely at every nook and cranny, hoping to find a “Made in…” stamp somewhere. I spun the spool, checked under the handle – nothing. These guys are good at hiding it!
Digging Deeper
Since the physical inspection didn’t give me answers. so I decided to do a quick research online.
I started entering keywords, like “where is abu garcia made”, and then clicked search, but nothing solid came up.
I had to do more seaching, and keep digging until I found what I wanted.

Finally,I found it!. And the answer is…it’s complicated!
- Some Abu Garcia reels, especially the higher-end ones, are made in Sweden. That’s where the company started, and they still have a factory there.
- But a lot of their reels, the more affordable ones, are made in Asia. places like China and Korea.
So, there you have it. It’s not a simple one-country answer. It really depends on the specific model of the reel. My advice? If the “Made in” location is super important to you, do your research on the exact reel you’re buying before you buy it. Otherwise, just enjoy the fishing!
