So yesterday I was trying to solve the New York Times Mini Crossword. I thought this would be a easy way to start my day, but as I was working through it, I came across this clue that said “Swirl, as water.” I was totally stumped. I mean, I tried filling in a few words that came to mind, but nothing seemed to fit.

Feeling a bit frustrated, I started to search the internet, hoping to find some help. I typed in the clue and scrolled through a bunch of search results. I read some articles and forum posts where people were discussing the same clue.
I found that many were struggling with this just like me. There were a few different answers suggested, but nothing definitive. I decided to try out each of the suggested answers one by one.
- First, I tried “SPIN,” but that didn’t work since it was too long.
- Then I attempted “FLOW,” but that didn’t fit either.
- I even considered “STIR,” but that wasn’t right.
Finally, after going through all these attempts, I stumbled upon a comment that mentioned the word “EDDY.” I quickly checked if it fit the crossword, and sure enough, it did! It was a four-letter word, and it made sense in the context of swirling water.
I was so relieved to finally figure it out. It’s funny how such a simple word can be so tricky to guess. I learned that an eddy is a circular movement of water, a small whirlpool. Who knew?
After solving that clue, I managed to finish the rest of the crossword without much trouble. It felt great to accomplish that, especially after being stuck on that one clue for so long.

This whole experience reminded me that even the simplest things can sometimes be challenging. It’s important to be persistent and not give up easily. And sometimes, seeking help from others can make all the difference.
Anyway, I just wanted to share this little adventure with you all. Have you ever had a similar experience with a crossword or a puzzle? I’d love to hear about it!
