Supersport 900 Ducati vs. the Competition: See How It Stacks Up Against Other Bikes

Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this Ducati SuperSport 900, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. I started by just looking at it, you know? It’s a beautiful bike, with those lines and that classic Ducati red. It just screams “ride me!” So, naturally, I had to.

Supersport 900 Ducati vs. the Competition: See How It Stacks Up Against Other Bikes

First off, I took it out on some local roads. Nothing crazy, just cruising around. But even at lower speeds, I could feel that power. It is a V-Twin with 80 hp, and that baby wants to go. I was trying to get a feel for it, getting used to the handling. It is way more comfortable than what I expected for such kind of motorcycle.

Then, I started pushing it a little harder. It shares the 937cc Testastretta engine with the 939 Hypermotard. I found some twisty roads, opened up the throttle a bit more. And wow. This thing can move. It’s like, you think you’re going fast, and then you realize you’re barely scratching the surface. This is so much fun!

    Here’s the thing though

  • I read some stuff online about the Ohlins suspension on the S model. Some folks were saying it’s not that great, which made me scratch my head a bit. Mine seemed fine, but what do I know? I’m just a guy who likes to ride, not some fancy engineer.
  • Another thing I noticed was that people were comparing it to other bikes, like the Panigale or some older 900SS models. It’s like, yeah, they’re all Ducatis, but they’re different beasts. This SuperSport 900, it’s its own thing. I think it’s kind of a “sport touring bike” but it feels not that comfortable to me. I guess I do not have enough experience with that.

Anyway, I kept riding, kept learning. I even took it to a track day, just to see what it could really do. Let me tell you, being on a track with this thing is a whole different experience. You can really lean into those corners, feel the tires grip, and let that engine roar. The best part is that you do not need to wait until the end of the tachometer to get that “fun power”. I had to adjust a few things, like tire pressure and suspension settings, but once I got it dialed in, it was like flying.

So, yeah, that’s my story with the Ducati SuperSport 900 so far. It’s been a blast, and I’m still figuring things out, still learning its quirks and its strengths. It’s not just a bike; it’s like a partner in crime, always ready for an adventure. And honestly, I can’t wait to see where we go next. I hope my sharing is helpful to you guys, see ya!
