Spurs Cockerel: The Tottenham Symbol, explore its Origins and Evolution.

Okay, so today I decided to mess around with drawing the Spurs cockerel. You know, the one from the Tottenham Hotspur logo. I’m no artist, but I thought, “Why not give it a shot?”

Getting Started

First, I grabbed a piece of paper and a pencil. Nothing fancy, just regular printer paper and a standard No. 2 pencil. I figured I’d start with a basic outline and see where it goes.

The Sketching Process

I started by drawing a circle for the body. It wasn’t perfect, more like an oval, really. Then I added a smaller circle on top for the head. It looked kinda weird at first, like a snowman or something.

  • Drew a circle for the body. (It was wobbly!)
  • Added a smaller circle for the head.
  • Tried to draw the beak. (This was tough!)

The beak was tricky. I kept erasing and redrawing it. It looked more like a duck’s bill at one point. Finally, I got something that resembled a cockerel’s beak, more or less.

Next, I started working on the legs and feet. These were super skinny and spindly. I made them a bit thicker, because the first attempt looked like they’d snap in a light breeze.

Adding Details

I added the wattle (that dangly thing under the beak) and the comb (the thing on top of the head). Again, lots of erasing and retrying. It’s harder than it looks, I tell you!

  • Added the wattle and comb.
  • Attempted to draw the feathers.

The feathers were a challenge. I just did some quick lines to give the impression of feathers, nothing too detailed. I wasn’t aiming for photo-realism here.

The ball. I’d forgotten about the football! I drew a simple circle under it’s feet.

The Finished Product

Finally, I stood back and looked at my masterpiece. It wasn’t perfect, not by a long shot. But, you know what? It kinda looked like the Spurs cockerel! A slightly wonky, amateur version, but still recognizable.

So, that was my little art adventure for the day. It was fun, frustrating, and a good way to kill some time. Maybe I’ll try again tomorrow and see if I can improve. Practice makes perfect, right? Or at least, slightly less imperfect.
