Today, I gonna talk about how I improved my chipping. I started by finding a practice area with different lies and slopes, you know, to simulate real course conditions.

First thing I did was grab my three trusty golf balls. I didn’t use them all at once, though. My buddy chose the starting spots for each of the nine holes. And let me tell you, he didn’t go easy on me. Made me work for it!
Grip It and Rip It? Not Quite!
Now, for the grip, I tried something called the reverse overlap grip. Basically, it makes your right hand stronger. So I set my right-hand palm open towards the target. I even put a golf ball in my right hand – it felt weird at first, but it helps you get the feel.
Practice Makes… Well, Better!
Then, I started chipping. Over and over again. Focused on getting the ball close to the hole. When I managed to chip all three balls in a row, we moved to the next hole.
- Chipped from different lies.
- Used the reverse overlap grip.
- Practiced, practiced, practiced.
It wasn’t easy, I messed up a lot at the beginning. Sometimes the ball went too far, sometimes it didn’t go far enough. But I kept at it, paying attention to how much power I put into each swing, and how the club face connected with the ball.
Getting the Hang of It
Slowly but surely, I started to get a feel for it. My chips became more consistent, and I was able to control the distance better. It was pretty awesome to see the improvement.

It took a lot of time and effort, but I eventually saw a big difference in my chipping game. Now, I’m not saying I’m a pro or anything, but I definitely feel more confident around the green. It is so cool. And I have more fun during the game with my buddy.
So yeah, that’s my chipping journey. It’s all about finding what works for you, practicing like crazy, and not being afraid to experiment. Hope you find this helpful!
