Okay, so I’ve been following this whole Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy putter drama, and man, it’s been a wild ride. I heard some rumors flying around that Rory had a hand in Scottie’s putting success, and I just had to dig into it.

Scottie Scheffler vs. Rory McIlroy: The Truth About the Putter Drama

First off, I started by checking out some recent articles about Scottie. Turns out, he switched to that TaylorMade Spider mallet putter back in March, and it was like magic. He started winning like crazy, nine wins worldwide, including the Masters and THE PLAYERS Championship. All with that same putter.

Then, I stumbled upon some whispers about Rory giving Scottie some advice. Now, I’m a big fan of both of these guys, so I was intrigued. I went down a rabbit hole of articles and interviews, trying to piece together what really happened.

  • I found this one piece talking about how both Scottie and Rory were having a tough time with their putting.
  • Another one mentioned that they were kind of going through this journey together, figuring things out.

So, I started watching some of their press conferences and interviews. I wanted to hear it straight from the horse’s mouth, you know? It seemed like they were both struggling, trying different things, and maybe even sharing some tips along the way.

It Got Even More Interesting.

I saw that Scottie and Rory teamed up for this made-for-TV match against Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka. They totally crushed it, by the way. But what caught my eye was how they were interacting, the camaraderie, you could tell there was some mutual respect there.

Then came the real kicker. I saw some news saying that Scottie denied the claims that Rory helped him with his putting. Man, I was so confused! All the evidence seemed to point to some kind of collaboration, or at least some shared advice.

I kept digging, looking at match results, schedules and I noticed they were playing in the 2024 U.S. Open. It included six holes of best ball, six holes of alternate shot, and six holes of singles. This format meant they had to rely on each other, work together, and maybe, just maybe, share some putting secrets. I don’t know.

But then Scottie straight up denied it. So, what’s the real story? Did Rory really help Scottie with his putting? Did Scottie just figure it out on his own? Or is there something else going on that we don’t know about? I can only imagine what it is. I really don’t know at all. I guess we’ll never know the full truth. But it’s definitely a fun little mystery to ponder. What do you guys think?
