Okay, so, let’s talk about this Robby Shelton guy. I got really into golf recently, and I was trying to up my game, you know? So I started watching a lot of pro golf, just to see how the big shots do it. I came across Robby Shelton, and I figured, “Why not give his style a shot?”

First off, I tried to mimic his swing. It’s not as easy as it looks, man. These guys make it look so smooth. I spent a couple of days just going to the driving range and hacking away. I must have looked ridiculous, but hey, you gotta start somewhere, right?
- Warm-up: I started with some basic stretches, just like I saw Robby doing in some pre-game footage. Nothing fancy, just trying to loosen up those muscles.
- The Grip: Then I tried to copy his grip. I watched a bunch of slow-motion videos, pausing and rewinding, trying to see exactly how he held the club. I messed with my grip a lot, it felt really different.
- The Stance: Next up was the stance. I tried to get that same balanced, athletic look that Robby has. Felt pretty awkward at first, but I think I got the hang of it after a while.
Then came the actual swing. Man, that was tough. I tried to go for that “long, rhythmic, lazy backswing” I read about somewhere. It felt super weird. I kept reminding myself to keep it “effortless and easy,” but it was anything but! I was also trying to be mindful of my wrist and hand action, trying to keep my grip pressure light like another article said.
I practiced for hours, hitting ball after ball. I’m not gonna lie, most of them went all over the place. But every now and then, I’d hit one that felt pretty good. It was like a little glimmer of hope, you know?
After a few days of this, I decided to try it out on the actual course. Let’s just say, it wasn’t exactly a pro-level performance. But I did notice some improvement. My drives were going a bit farther, and I felt more in control of my swing overall. It felt like all that awkward practice was paying off, even if it was just a little bit.
The Takeaway
So, what did I learn from trying to play like Robby Shelton? Well, first off, those pros are way better than they look. And second, even small changes to your swing can make a difference. It takes time and a ton of practice, but it’s definitely possible to improve. I still feel like my swing needs work, but, who knows, maybe one day I’ll be able to swing like Robby Shelton. For now, I’m just gonna keep practicing and see where it takes me. Keep swinging, folks!
