My Little Project: Remembering Papiss Cissé at Newcastle
Okay, so the other day I got thinking about Papiss Cissé during his time at Newcastle United. It just popped into my head, maybe I saw an old clip somewhere, I don’t quite recall exactly. But it got me wanting to do something, you know, a little personal project just to relive those moments.

So, I decided I’d try and put together a short video compilation. Just his best goals for Newcastle. Seemed simple enough at first.
Getting Started: The Hunt for Footage
First thing, I needed the actual videos. This took longer than I thought! I started searching online, mainly YouTube and some old fan forums I remembered. Finding the really famous goals, like that one against Chelsea, was easy enough. But I wanted some of the others too, the less spectacular but still important ones from his early run.
- I spent a good evening just downloading clips.
- Some were great quality, others were pretty grainy, like they were recorded off an old TV.
- Had to sift through lots of highlight reels to find specific goal moments.
Making the Cut: Tough Choices
Once I had a folder full of clips, I started watching them properly. Man, that first half-season he had was something else, wasn’t it? Goal after goal. It brought back a lot of good memories of the excitement around the club then.

Choosing which ones to include was tough. I definitely wanted:
- The debut goal, obviously.
- The impossible Chelsea volley – maybe the best Premier League goal ever?
- That sweet strike against Stoke City.
- A couple showing his partnership with Demba Ba, they were electric together for a bit.
I had way more clips than I needed for a short video, so I had to be strict. Just picked the absolute best ones that really showed his knack for scoring stunners.
Putting it Together: The Editing Bit
Then came the editing. Now, I’m no expert. I just used some basic video editing software I have on my computer. Nothing fancy. My main job was:
- Cutting each clip down to just the goal and maybe the celebration.
- Trying to arrange them in some sort of order, maybe chronological, maybe just by how cool they looked.
- Making sure the sound levels were roughly the same – some clips were really loud, others quiet.
- Added some simple fades between clips so it wasn’t too jarring.
It was fiddly work, getting the cuts just right. Took me another session just to piece it all together into something that flowed okay.
Finished Piece: Just a Bit of Nostalgia
So, after a bit of effort, I had my little Cissé compilation. It’s not professional or anything, just a few minutes of his best Newcastle moments strung together. Watched it back and it really took me back to that time. That feeling of expectation whenever he got the ball near the goal.
It was a fun little exercise. Good way to spend a couple of evenings, digging through old footage and remembering a player who gave us some truly unbelievable moments. Just wanted to share the process, really. Sometimes it’s nice to just tinker with this stuff yourself.
