Alright, so I wanted to mess around with this whole “Pistons at the Silverdome” thing. I’d heard stories, seen some grainy footage, and figured, “Why not try to recreate this vibe somehow?”

First, I dug up some old photos. Seriously, spent a good hour just scrolling through whatever I could find online. I wanted to get a feel for the place, you know? The sheer size of it, the way the crowd looked, the whole atmosphere. I was trying to soak it all in.
Getting the Visuals Down
- Found a bunch of pictures of the Silverdome, both during Pistons games and other events.
- Looked for images showing the court setup, how they positioned it in that massive space.
- Checked photos to see crowd.
I decided to build a little something. Nothing fancy, just a basic representation.
Next up, I needed to find the sounds. Obviously, I couldn’t actually be there, but I wanted to get as close as possible. More searching!
- I grabbed some crowd noise clips.
- I found basketball sounds.
I opened up the sound clips. Then I layered the basketball sounds on the crowd ambience.

It wasn’t perfect, not by a long shot. But it was… something. It gave me a tiny, tiny taste of what it might have been like to be in that enormous dome, watching the Pistons play. It was a fun little experiment, and it definitely made me appreciate the history of that era even more.
