Then, I started looking at the schedule for Week 14. There were 13 games, and I was like, “Alright, let’s do this.” I spent hours, seriously, hours, checking out the odds for each game. I read that the Cincinnati Bengals were favored to beat the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football. Who would have thought?
Diving Into the Data
I also found this interesting tidbit: the margin of victory has been, on average, about 1.7 points below the spread. This is apparently normal, but it’s something to keep in mind when you’re making your picks.
- Checked out expert predictions. I found this guy, Eric Cohen, on SportsLine, and he had final score predictions for every single game. Pretty detailed stuff.
- Compared opening lines and spreads. I found a bunch of articles talking about the NFL odds for Week 14. It was like a maze trying to find the most up-to-date info.
- Considered the playoff implications. This was a big one. Teams were fighting for their playoff lives, so I knew some games would be extra intense.
Making My Predictions
After all that research, I finally started putting together my own predictions. It wasn’t easy, let me tell you. There were so many close matchups, and I kept going back and forth on some of them.
