So, I decided to try drawing a police station the other day. Wasn’t sure where to start, honestly. Just kinda stared at the blank paper for a bit.

First thing I did was grab a pencil and just started sketching a big box. Like, a really basic rectangle shape. That was going to be the main building. I thought, okay, that’s a start. It looked kinda plain, though.
Then I figured, it needs a door, right? So I drew a smaller rectangle in the middle of the bottom part of the big box. Needed windows too. I put a couple of square shapes on either side of the door. And then I thought, maybe it needs a second floor? So I added another row of window squares above the first ones. Just simple squares, nothing fancy.
Okay, it looked like a building, but not really a police station. What makes it obvious? The sign! That’s the key part. So, right above the door, I carefully drew another rectangle, a long thin one, and wrote “POLICE” inside it. Used block letters, tried to make them look kinda official, you know? I also added a little blue light thingy on the roof, just a circle with a little dome on top. Maybe a flagpole on the side too? Yeah, stuck one on the side with a simple rectangle flag.
My lines were a bit messy from sketching, so I went over the main outlines again, making them darker. Rubbed out some of the sketchy lines I didn’t need anymore. It started looking a bit cleaner.
I felt like it was floating in space, so I drew a straight line under it for the ground, maybe like a sidewalk. Just a simple line, really.

Didn’t go crazy with colors. Just grabbed a blue crayon and colored in the light on top. Used a grey for the building walls and a brown for the door. Kept it super simple.
And that was pretty much it. Looked okay in the end. Not amazing, but you could definitely tell it was supposed to be a police station. Drawing the “POLICE” sign neatly was probably the trickiest bit for me. But yeah, just starting with simple shapes worked out alright.
