Alright, so I decided it was time to really dive into the Root of Nightmares raid again. Heard some folks talking about the weapons, especially that shotgun, Conditional Finality, you know? Plus, some of the legendaries looked pretty slick too. Had to give it a proper go.

Getting Started
First thing was getting the fireteam together. Pinged a couple of guys from the clan, found a few more looking for a run. Took a bit, always does, coordinating everyone’s schedule and power levels. Finally got six of us ready to drop in. Loaded up our usual loadouts, hoping for the best.
The Encounters and the Drops
We jumped in. That first encounter, Cataclysm, pretty much breezed through it. Just clearing adds, hitting the nodes, standard stuff. Got some spoils, maybe an armor piece, nothing crazy first chest. Moved onto Scission. This one took us a couple tries, someone always messes up the running back and forth, you know how it is. More spoils, think someone got the auto rifle, Mykel’s Reverence? Looked okay.
Then Macrocosm, the planet room. Man, sometimes we nail this first try, other times it’s just chaos. This run was somewhere in between. Took maybe three wipes before we got the planets aligned right. The loot here started getting a bit better. I saw drops like:
- Briar’s Contempt – The linear fusion, decent roll but not the god roll.
- Nessa’s Oblation – Slug shotgun, alright I guess.
- More armor… always more armor.
Still, no sign of that exotic shotgun everyone’s hyped about. Kept pushing.
Facing Nezarec
Finally, Nezarec. Big dude, lots going on. We actually had a pretty clean run this time. Everyone knew their role, callouts were good, focused damage. Took him down without too much fuss, which felt great after struggling on the planets.

Then came the final chest. That moment, right? Everyone gathers around, hoping for that exotic drop. You see the little icon pop up on the side of the screen… or not.
The Final Loot Haul
Opened the chest… another pair of boots. Seriously. Watched as one guy in the team got the Conditional Finality to drop. Good for him, but man, still chasing it myself. Didn’t get any red borders I desperately needed either. It was mostly spoils and another weapon I already had a few versions of.
So yeah, that was the run. Spent a good hour or two, got some okay legendary drops, helped a teammate get the big prize, but still empty-handed on the exotic front for me. That’s just how the loot grind goes sometimes, right? Back at it next week, I guess. The hunt continues.
