Okay, so I’ve been diving deep into the Clippers’ potential free agency moves, and man, it’s a rabbit hole. Here’s how I went about figuring out who they might target.

First, I checked out the Clippers’ current roster and salary cap situation. Gotta know what they’re working with, right? I looked at who’s got contracts expiring and how much money they realistically have to spend. It’s not a ton, so bargain hunting is the name of the game.
Then, I started brainstorming their biggest needs. After watching them last season, it was obvious they could use some help. A solid backup point guard? Definitely. More consistent shooting? Absolutely. Maybe another big body to help with rebounding? Yep.
My Target List Process
- Scoured the list of upcoming free agents. There are hundreds of players, so it’s a bit of a grind.
- Filtered out the obvious “no way” guys – the superstars who are way out of the Clippers’ price range, or players at positions they just don’t need.
- Focused on players who fit the needs I identified earlier: point guards, shooters, and maybe a rebounder/defender.
- Read a bunch of articles and watched some highlight reels (gotta get the eye test in!).
- Considered age and injury history. Gotta be realistic; a guy who’s always hurt isn’t gonna help much.
After all that, I came up with a shortlist of guys who might be good fits. These are the guys I wanted to look into a bit more. I’m not saying the Clippers will definitely get these players, but they seem like they’d make sense.
I then went player by player on my shortlist, I dug into their stats from last season – points, assists, rebounds, shooting percentages, all that good stuff. I also tried to find some info on their playing style and whether they’d be a good fit in the Clippers’ system.
It’s all about putting the pieces of the puzzle together. No guarantees in free agency, but this is my best guess at who the Clippers could be targeting. It’s all speculation, of course, but it’s fun to play armchair GM!
