Alright guys, let me tell you about this little project I’ve been messing around with – the “n3on leon” thing. It started out as just a dumb idea I had while, you know, just kicking back one night.
So, first thing I did was fire up my trusty old IDE. I figured I’d start with some basic Python, because why not? I started sketching out the basic structure. I knew I wanted it to do something… visual. Like, maybe some kind of animation or something. Nothing too fancy, just something to look at.
Next up, I dug around for some libraries that could help me out. I stumbled across this one called Pygame. Seemed easy enough to pick up. I downloaded it, installed it, and messed around with some of the example code just to get a feel for how it worked. Honestly, it was pretty straightforward.
Then came the fun part – actually writing the code. I started simple, just drawing a square on the screen. Got that working. Then I tried moving it around. Success! It was like a little victory dance in my head. I added some color, just to make it look a little less boring.
But a square wasn’t exactly “n3on leon,” right? So I started messing around with drawing lines and curves. Tried to make something that resembled… well, something that resembled a stylized lion, I guess. It was pretty janky at first. Lots of trial and error. I’d draw something, run the code, and then immediately go back and tweak it. Rinse and repeat.
After hours of fiddling, I finally had something that I was… reasonably happy with. It wasn’t perfect, by any means, but it looked kinda like a lion. And it had this weird, neon-ish glow to it because of the colors I was using. Hence the name, “n3on leon.”
But just a static image wasn’t enough. I wanted it to move. So I added some simple animation. Made the lion “roar” by scaling it up and down a little bit. Added some pulsating colors to the background. It was all very basic, but it added a little bit of life to the thing.
And that’s pretty much it. “n3on leon” isn’t anything groundbreaking, but it was a fun little project to work on. I learned a bit more about Pygame, and I got to flex my creative muscles a little bit. Plus, it’s kinda cool to see something you built from scratch actually working on the screen.
Here’s a quick rundown of the steps:
- Installed Python (duh)
- Installed Pygame
- Drew a square
- Made the square move
- Replaced the square with a janky lion drawing
- Added some neon colors
- Animated the lion
And that’s the whole story. Maybe I’ll add some more features to it later. Maybe not. Who knows? But for now, I’m happy with my little “n3on leon.”
