Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this melting furnace thing in Baldur’s Gate 3, and let me tell you, it’s a bit of a process. I heard you could make some pretty sweet weapons with it, so I decided to give it a shot.

First, I went to this place called the Blighted Village. You’ll find a house there, and in its basement, there’s this entrance to the Underdark. I thought that was pretty cool. Inside the house, I found this old blacksmith’s forge. It was all cold and stuff, so I had to get it going again. I used the bellows to puff air and got the fire going. Man, it felt like I was a real blacksmith for a second there!
After the forge was nice and hot, I interacted with it. This is where it got a little tricky. Apparently, you need this special ingredient called Sussur Bark to make the magic happen. I had to find some of that first. I had found some during a quest called “Finish the Masterwork Weapon.” It was a fun quest. I found this guy’s journal, Highcliff, and it led me to this bark.
So, with the Sussur Bark in hand, I went back to the forge. I clicked on the melting furnace part, not the anvil. That’s important. Then, I combined the bark with the furnace. The flames turned this crazy blue-white color. It looked awesome!
Now for the fun part. I had to choose a weapon to upgrade. You can use a greatsword, a dagger, or a sickle. I read somewhere that the dagger is the best choice. Since I like daggers, I tossed my regular old dagger into the mix. And bam! I had this shiny, new, masterwork dagger. It felt really good to make it myself.
The process is here.
- Find the forge: Go to the Blighted Village and find the house with the Underdark entrance.
- Light it up: Use the bellows to get the fire going in the forge.
- Get the bark: Find some Sussur Bark.
- Combine bark and furnace: Click on the melting furnace and combine it with the bark. The flames will turn blue-white.
- Choose your weapon: Pick a greatsword, dagger, or sickle.
- Create your masterpiece: Combine your chosen weapon in the melting furnace window.
- Done! You should get your nice weapon!
Honestly, it’s a bit of a pain to go through all these steps, but the end result is pretty cool. I’m excited to try out my new dagger in a fight. If you’re looking to craft some unique weapons in Baldur’s Gate 3, definitely give the melting furnace a try. Just be prepared to do a little legwork!
