Okay, here’s my blog post about digging into the Man City 2016-17 season:

So, I decided to take a deep dive into Man City’s 2016-17 season. You know, the first one under Pep Guardiola. I was curious, I guess, to see how things started out for him in the Premier League.
First thing I did? I started gathering info. It was easy to find all the premier league fixtures back then.
Then I started watching some match highlights. I figured that would give me a good sense of the team’s style and how they were playing.
- I checked out some YouTube videos, watched a few full matches when I could find them.
- I dug up some old articles and match reports.
- I even looked at some fan forums to see what people were saying at the time.
Getting My Hands Dirty
It was a bit like putting together a puzzle. I started to see how Pep was trying to implement his style, the players he favored, and the challenges they faced. I also looked at the main compititors leagur table at the time.
It was the up and down rollercoaster season, from what I gathered.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing, that’s for sure! They had some amazing games and some real head-scratchers. But you could see the seeds of what was to come in later seasons, you know? The style of play, the emphasis on possession… it was all starting to take shape.
It was a pretty fun little project. Learned a bit more about that era of Man City and Pep’s early days. I realized It’s not just about stats, it’s about understanding the whole story of the season.
