So, I went out to the golf course today, thinking I’d have a pretty chill round. I’ve been working on my swing, and I felt like things were finally clicking, you know?

The Search Begins
The first few holes were great! I crushed my drives, kept it pretty straight, and even managed to sink a couple of decent putts. But then came the 7th hole… a tricky par 4 with a nasty water hazard on the right.
I teed off, feeling confident, and… slice! The ball sailed way right, and I heard that dreaded plunk sound. Yep, straight into the water. No biggie, I’ve lost balls before. I grabbed another one from my bag, took a drop, and played on.
Except, I sliced the next shot, too! I heard it sploosh right there into the water. This time I take another drop, and finally get the ball, third time lucky, over the water, onto the green, and I two putt for a double bogey.
Could I Find My Ball?
Now, normally, I wouldn’t bother looking for a lost ball in the water. But I thought about it as I played the 8th, and I was using these new, brightly colored balls, and I figured, “Hey, maybe I can spot them?” So, after finishing the 8th, I doubled back.
I walked back along the edge of the water, scanning the reeds and murky depths. It was kind of muddy and gross, but I was determined. I spent a good 10 minutes poking around with my 7-iron, trying to feel for anything round.
- First, I tried just looking. No luck. The water was too murky.
- Then, I started poking around in the shallow parts. Still nothing.
- Finally, I started wading in a little bit (yeah, I know, probably not the smartest move).
And you know what? I found one! It was one of my bright orange balls, nestled amongst some weeds. Score! But, alas, no sign of the other one. So, one out of two isn’t bad, right?
I felt a little silly, wading around in the muddy water, but hey, I got a ball back! It’s the small victories, you know? But seriously, I need to work on that slice.
