Okay, so, today was all about getting my car serviced. I’ve been putting it off for, like, ever, and the “check engine” light finally decided to yell at me. So, no more excuses, I had to tackle this “Kelly’s Car Service” project.
Finding a Place
First things first, I needed to find a place to take my car. I am not a car person. I did a search and scrolled to find a mechanic with good reviews. I checked a couple, and finally settled on a local shop.
The Dreaded Phone Call
Next up, the phone call. I always hate calling to schedule stuff like this, I always feel like I’m bothering them. But, I took a deep breath and dialed. The guy who answered was super chill, which instantly made me feel better. We chatted about what my car was doing (or, you know, not doing), and he got me scheduled for an appointment.
Showtime
Today was the day. The appointment was at 10 am. I wanted to bring my car to the shop before I started my remote working.
I dropped off my car, handed over the keys, and then walked to my home to catch up with working.

The Waiting Game
The waiting is the worst part. Did I totally mess up my car? Is this going to cost a fortune? My mind went to the worst-case scenario, obviously. I tried to distract myself with work, chores, anything to keep from refreshing my email every five seconds.
The Verdict
Finally, I got the call! It was way less dramatic than I built it up to be. Just a couple of minor things, thankfully. A sensor needed replacing, and I was due for an oil change anyway. Phew! The total was not bad, much better than the disaster I had imagined.
Picking Up My Ride
I went back to the shop after work. I paid my bill, the mechanic guy explained everything they did, and I was good to go! I gotta say, the whole experience was way less painful than I anticipated. I drove off, feeling like a responsible adult. My car is running smoothly, the “check engine” light is off, and I can finally check this off my to-do list. Success!
