Okay, so I’ve been wanting to really dive into recreating John Wall in NBA 2K for a while now. I’m a huge Wizards fan, and I’ve always loved Wall’s explosive playstyle. I figured it was time to finally get this done, so here’s how I went about it.

John Wall 2K Guide: Best Build, Badges, and Tips for MyPlayer.

First, I booted up my 2K game. I main the latest version, but this should work pretty similarly across most recent 2K games.

Creating the Player

I headed over to the “Create Player” mode. Obvious, I know, but you gotta start somewhere!

  • I typed in “John Wall” for the name, duh.
  • Position: Point Guard, naturally. He’s gotta be running the show.
  • Handedness: Right. Gotta get that signature right-hand finish.
  • Jersey Number: 2, representing his Washington days.

Appearance

I spent, I should say, I wasted a good chunk of time here. Really I wanted to try to get his look just right. I scrolled through the face options forever, trying to find a base that was close. Then it was all about tweaking:

  • Hair: I went with that medium fade he rocks.
  • Facial Hair: A little bit of stubble, nothing too crazy.
  • Build: I tried to make him lean, but muscular. He’s not a huge guy, but he’s definitely strong.

Attributes and Ratings

This is where things got interesting. I wanted to capture the prime John Wall, the one that was an All-Star.

  • Speed & Acceleration: These were cranked way up. Wall’s speed was his biggest weapon.
  • Ball Handling: High, obviously. He was a wizard with the ball.
  • Passing: Also super high. His court vision was incredible.
  • Finishing: High ratings for layups and dunks, he was always great at getting to the rim.
  • Defense: I gave him pretty good defensive ratings, he was always a solid defender.
  • Shooting: This was the trickiest part. His shooting was always a bit inconsistent, so I gave him decent, but not elite, ratings.

Badges

Badges really define how a player plays in 2K. I focused on:

  • Finishing Badges: Acrobat, Giant Slayer, stuff like that to reflect his ability to finish in traffic.
  • Playmaking Badges: Dimer, Ankle Breaker, Quick First Step, to emphasize his passing and ball-handling.
  • Defensive Badges: Clamps, Intimidator, to make him a pest on defense.

Testing Him Out

After all that, I took my created John Wall for a spin in a quick game. I wanted to see how he felt. I drove to the basket, I dished out some assists, and I even hit a few jumpers. It felt pretty good! He felt fast and explosive, just like I remembered.

I still tweaked a few things here and there after playing a few games. I adjusted his shooting a bit, and I might play around with his badges some more. It’s a never-ending process, really. But I think it shows my efforts.

Overall, It was a blast, and you should try it too!
