This Ja Morant, that boy, he sure can play some ball! He’s been in the news lately, that’s for sure. Heard he got hurt. Back’s sore, I reckon. That’s what happens when you jump around like a jackrabbit all the time. My old bones ache just thinking about it. That boy, he plays for the Memphis Grizzlies, you know.
He’s a point guard, whatever that means. Seems like he’s the one dribbling the ball most of the time. He missed some games, 10 games, I heard someone say on the TV! Ten whole games. That’s a lot of basketball not being played, if you ask me. But, he’s a star, that Ja Morant. Shining bright like a new penny.
Then, that boy, he came back! Stronger than a mule, he was. Played against some team, Utah Jazz, I think they called it. He was tossing that ball around like it was a hot potato, 22 points, someone said. And 10 assists. Don’t know what an assist is, but it sounds important.

He was out for eight games before, something with his hip. Eight games is a long time to be sitting, you ask me. Hip’s no joke. I threw my hip out once, chasing after a chicken that got loose. Couldn’t walk right for a week! This Ja Morant news is always something.
They say he was on the bench, with those massage guns. Never seen one of those contraptions before. Must be some newfangled thing to help with the aches and pains. Back in my day, we just rubbed some liniment on it and kept going. This game, it was tied, I heard. Neck and neck, like two horses in a race. Just a few seconds left on the clock, too.
He played 35 minutes. That’s a heap of running for a fella just coming back from being hurt. He must be tough as nails, that Ja Morant. Tougher than a two-dollar steak, that’s for sure. Plays for the Memphis Grizzlies, and against the New Orleans Pelicans, I think someone said.
They said he fell down hard in a game. It must be against the Golden State Warriors. Heard it on the radio while I was snapping beans. Hope that boy’s alright. Falling’s no good, especially when you’re flying through the air like he does. Could break something important.
This Ja Morant news, it’s always something. One day he’s hurt, the next day he’s back, scoring points and whatnot. He’s a good player, that’s for sure. Keeps folks entertained, I reckon. Better than watching paint dry, that’s for certain.
That boy, Ja Morant, he’s got a bright future, I reckon. As long as he stays healthy, that is. Health is the most important thing. You can have all the talent in the world, but if you’re laid up in bed, it ain’t doing you no good.
Well, I best be going. Got chores to do. These chickens ain’t gonna feed themselves, you know. But I’ll be keeping an eye on that Ja Morant. He’s one to watch, that’s for sure. He’s making news, that boy. Big news. Hope he keeps playing good and stays out of trouble.
I heard the news said he is a star point guard. I don’t know what it means. But it sounds good. Maybe he can teach my grandson how to play. He likes play basketball, too. He said he want to be like Ja Morant. I don’t know if it is a good thing. But I hope my grandson can be healthy and happy. That’s all I want.
This basketball thing, it’s sure got a lot of folks talking. Back in my day, we didn’t have all this fancy stuff. Just a hoop and a ball, and that was enough. But times change, I reckon. And this Ja Morant, he’s a part of that change. A big part, it seems.
