Okay, so I wanted to try out Senna top lane, because why not? I’ve seen some people do it, and I was curious if it could actually work. I’m not a top lane main, but I do play a decent amount of Senna support.

First, I hopped into a normal game – wouldn’t want to test this in ranked right away! I picked Senna, locked her in, and… got flamed immediately. My team was not thrilled. They were all like, “Senna top? GG report.” I just muted everyone and focused on the game.
My lane opponent was a Garen. I figured, okay, I can kite him, I can poke him, it should be fine, right? Wrong. He just ran at me, spun around, and I died. Like, instantly. I was level 3, he was level 3, and I just… disappeared.
I tried to play safe after that, farming under tower, trying to get my Qs off on him when he went for CS. It kinda worked, but it was still rough. I kept getting ganked by their jungler, a Nocturne. It was a nightmare. Every time I thought I was safe, boom, darkness, and I’m dead again.
The one good thing was that my root (W) was surprisingly useful. If Garen ever tried to engage, I could usually root him and run away. Small victories, I guess.
Mid-game was… not good. I was behind in CS, behind in levels, and basically useless. Garen was a monster, roaming around the map and killing everyone. I tried to split push a few times, but I was so weak that I couldn’t even take towers quickly. Also, any time anyone showed up, I had to run away or die.

- Pros:
- Root is handy for disengaging.
- Range advantage helps a little bit in lane.
- Cons:
- Squishy as heck.
- No real escape.
- Easy to gank.
- Falls off HARD if behind.
Late game, I actually started to do a little bit of damage. With a few items, my Qs were hurting, and my ultimate could snipe people across the map. But, it was too little, too late. We lost, badly.
My final Thought
Honestly, Senna top is probably not a great idea unless you’re REALLY good at her and have a good matchup. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it for most people. It was a fun experiment, but I think I’ll stick to support Senna for now.
