Alright, so I’ve been trying to clean up my Instagram feed lately, you know, make it a bit more… curated. And a big part of that was figuring out how to hide who I’m following. Not that I’m following anyone shady, but sometimes you just want a bit more privacy, right?

So, I started digging around. At first, I went straight to the Instagram app. I poked around in “Settings”, then “Privacy”, then… everywhere! I thought it would be a simple toggle switch, like “Hide Following List”, but no such luck. I spent a good 20 minutes just tapping around, getting increasingly frustrated.
My Little Experiment
Then I thought, “Okay, maybe it’s a profile setting?”. So, I switched to my profile view, tapped the three little lines in the corner, then “Edit Profile”. Again, nothing. I was starting to think it was impossible.
After that, I pulled out my laptop, thinking maybe the desktop version would have more options. Logged in, clicked on my profile, looked through every single setting… still nothing. I even tried different browsers, just in case it was some weird browser-specific glitch. Nope.
The (Slightly Disappointing) Conclusion
Finally, I did what I should have done in the first place: I just searched for the right answer. And that’s when I realized… you can’t actually completely hide your following list on Instagram. Bummer, right?
I found out some “tricks”, I guess you could call them:

- Make your account private. This is the most obvious one. If your account is private, only approved followers can see who you’re following (and who’s following you).
So, yeah, that’s my little journey. I was hoping for a quick fix, but it turns out Instagram just doesn’t work that way. I ended up just making my account private. It’s not exactly what I wanted, but it’s close enough. It’s definitely a more… controlled experience now.
