Okay, so I’ve been trying to up my golf game lately, and I keep hearing about this Boyd Summerhays guy. Apparently, he’s a pretty big deal coach, works with some top pros and stuff. So, I figured I’d dive in and see what his methods are all about.

Digging into Boyd Summerhays’s Approach
First, I watched a bunch of videos about him. Just trying to get a feel for his general vibe and teaching style. It looked, you know, pretty standard at first – grip, stance, posture, the usual stuff.
- Watched some lesson videos online.
- Looked for any articles, interviews, whatever I could find.
Putting it into Practice(trying the Summerhays way)
Then came the hard part – actually trying to apply what I had watched.
So the next day, I headed to the driving range, armed with my newfound “knowledge.” I spent, I don’t know, like a good two hours just working on my setup. Kept thinking about that “athletic posture” thing.
I started by really focusing on my grip. I used to have a super strong grip, you know, knuckles way over. I tried to get the club a bit more in the fingers, like I watched Boyd, I think. Felt weird, I won’t lie.

Struggles and Small Wins
Honestly, the first few swings were rough. I felt like I had zero control. Balls were going every which way. I shanked a few, topped a couple… it was a mess. I almost gave up, to be honest.
I kept at it though. After what felt like a million swings(it had been 15 min), I started to feel a little something. Like, maybe I was getting a bit more consistent with my contact. Not perfect, but better.
I played nine holes that next week, and well, it wasn’t a miracle round or anything. But, my bad shots weren’t as disastrous.I felt like I had a bit more control, even when I didn’t hit it perfectly.
It is not that I have become an amazing golfer in a week. It is going to take tons of the hard work and many, many buckets of balls. But I do feel like I am on the right path.
