Alright, so I gotta tell you about this thing I’ve been messing with – this Honda V3 engine. I saw some chatter online about it a while back, and you know me, I can’t resist a good tinkering project. It’s a weird one, a V3, not something you see every day. Basically, it’s got two pistons on one side and one on the other, making a 75-degree angle, as Honda tells.

So, first thing I did was trying to get a clear picture of what this thing actually is. I dug around, trying to find any info I could. Apparently, this isn’t just some regular engine; Honda’s gone and added some kind of forced induction, a supercharger, to it. They are saying it’s for big bikes. Sounds wild, right?
The next thing I did was look up if people were talking about it at EICMA 2024. And yeah, it was there, they call it a “high-efficiency” concept. That got me even more curious. I mean, a supercharged V3 for motorcycles? That’s not your everyday engine setup.
After that, I spent some time trying to understand what Honda’s angle was with this thing. From what I gathered, they’re planning to use this engine in bigger bikes in the future. They’re calling it a “new challenge” in the world of internal combustion engines. That makes sense, It’s definitely different. So, I started sketching out some ideas on how this thing could work, how it would fit into a bike frame, that sort of thing.
Then, I went and tried to find out if anyone else had actually built something with a V3. Turns out, not many have. It’s a pretty unique design, especially with that supercharger. It’s not just slapping an engine together, you know? There’s a lot to consider about how it will perform, how it will sound, all that good stuff.
What I’ve managed to do so far is:

- Get a basic understanding of the engine’s layout.
- Figure out that it’s meant for larger displacement motorcycles.
- Learn that it is a concept that showed up at EICMA.
- Realize that Honda is serious about developing this further.
- Start brainstorming on how to actually implement this in a real-world build.
It’s been a heck of a ride so far. This Honda V3 is definitely a challenging project, but that’s what makes it fun, right? I’ll keep you guys posted on how it goes. It might take a while, but I’m determined to see this thing through. Maybe I’ll even get it running one day. Who knows? It’s all about the journey, isn’t it?
