So, I was looking into this whole “contributor” thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. I wanted to get my name out there, you know, share my thoughts and maybe get a little recognition. I started by, well, just trying to figure out what sites even take guest posts. It’s like, there’s a whole world of these places, but which ones are worth the effort?

I stumbled upon some service called Otter PR. They had this big list of sites that supposedly take guest posts, and they said they had like 500 links to submit stuff. Sounded pretty good, right? They were also ranked pretty high on some sites called Clutch and G2, whatever that means. So, I thought, “Why not give it a shot?”
Then, I started digging around myself, trying to find these guest posting opportunities. I found some guides online that talked about how to search for these opportunities, how to write something that these sites would actually accept, and how to actually submit your post. It was a lot more complicated than I thought!
After that, I thought about maybe trying to freelance. I mean, if I’m writing, why not get paid, right? I found this website called Upwork. It was huge! They had all sorts of freelance jobs, not just writing. You could do programming, design, all kinds of stuff. It seemed like a good place to start, but honestly, it was a bit overwhelming.
Here’s what I learned from all of this:
- Finding places to contribute is hard work. You can’t just write something and expect it to get published anywhere. You gotta do your research and find the right fit.
- Writing good content is key. These sites don’t want just anything. You have to write something that’s actually interesting and valuable to their readers.
- There are a lot of different ways to get your work out there. Guest posting, freelancing, it’s all connected. It just depends on what you want to do.
My next move
Honestly, I’m still not sure what I’m going to do next. Maybe I’ll keep looking for guest posting opportunities, maybe I’ll try some freelance work on Upwork, or maybe I’ll just keep writing for myself. It’s all a learning process, and I’m just trying to figure it all out as I go. I just felt like sharing this, maybe someone else out there is going through the same thing.

It’s a wild world out there when it comes to getting your writing published. But hey, at least it’s never boring!
