Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this fantasy golf thing for a while now, and let me tell you, it’s a wild ride. Basically, it’s like fantasy football, but with golfers. You pick your team, and based on how they perform in real tournaments, you score points. Sounds simple enough, right?

First things first, I started by researching, like, a lot. I dug into which golfers were hot, who was consistently at the top of the leaderboards, and who was maybe a dark horse worth taking a chance on. I spent hours watching the last game and checking out stats. It felt like I was becoming a golf expert overnight!
Then, I signed up on one of these fantasy golf websites. They’ve got different kinds of games, but I went for the classic one where you pick a new team every week. I chose one that had beginner vs beginner and expert vs expert modes.
- Built my first team. I went all-in on Scottie Scheffler, he was killing it and even won the Masters. It was a no-brainer.
- Added a couple of other big names and then tried to find some under-the-radar players who might surprise everyone.
- Joined a league with some buddies. It’s way more fun when you’ve got bragging rights on the line.
The first week was a bit of a disaster, I won’t lie. I had a few guys miss the cut, and my “sleeper” pick? Yeah, he didn’t exactly set the world on fire. But hey, that’s part of the game.
Learned from my mistakes, I went back to the drawing board. I started paying more attention to things like course history (how well a golfer has played on a particular course in the past), their recent form, and even the weather conditions. Some players are better on certain courses, for example, there are players good at short game.
Each week, I tweaked my lineup, trying out different combinations. I even started setting reminders to make my picks before the tournaments started because, trust me, you don’t want to miss the deadline.

Getting Better
Slowly but surely, I started to get the hang of it. I had a few top finishes in my league, even won a couple of weeks. I realized that picking the winner of the tournament is great, but you also need to have guys who consistently make the cut and finish high. For example, Taylor Pendrith, I picked him at the BMW Championship. He is in a solid position right now.
Reached out to some more experienced players in the community for advice. It’s amazing how much you can learn from others. They give some great tips on strategy and even some specific player recommendations each week.
Now, I’m no pro, but I’m definitely enjoying it a lot more. It’s a fun way to follow the PGA Tour and get a little bit more invested in the tournaments. Plus, who doesn’t love the thrill of victory, even if it’s just a fantasy golf league?
