So, I wanted to keep track of the Copa del Rey matches this year. You know, just for fun, to see how things were going.

I started by looking up info about the tournament. It turns out, the final match was held on April 6, 2024, at the Estadio de La Cartuja in Seville. I discovered that Athletic Bilbao and Mallorca were the finalists. Also, I found out that teams qualify for this thing through their regional leagues, which I thought was pretty cool. Oh, and get this, they didn’t have the competition in 1938 because of the Spanish Civil War. Also, Barcelona has won the most, they really killed it.
Next, I searched for the latest standings for the 2024-2025 season. I checked a few different websites to get the full picture. Most of them were pretty similar, listing the teams, their wins, losses, and points.
Then, I decided to organize all this information into a table. I just used a simple spreadsheet, nothing fancy. I listed the team names in one column and their key stats in the others. I also included columns for matches played at home and away, just to see if there were any interesting patterns there.
My Copa del Rey Table
- Team: This column shows the name of each team.
- Wins: I put down how many matches each team has won.
- Losses: And here, I tracked their losses.
- Points: This shows their total points based on the wins and losses.
- Home: I also noted how they did in their home matches.
- Away: And of course, their performance in away matches.
I kept updating the table throughout the season whenever I saw new results. It was kind of fun to watch the standings change over time. Some teams really surprised me, while others, well, not so much. And that’s pretty much it. That’s how I made my Copa del Rey table. It wasn’t a huge project or anything, but it was a fun way for me to follow the tournament and learn a bit more about Spanish football.
